Keynote speaker, William Glasser Institute of Ireland Annual National Convention.
9. 30-10.30 am, Saturday 24th October 2015, at St. Patricks College, Drumcondra, Dublin.
I have enjoyed and appreciated a long association with the William Glasser Institute of Ireland, and with the William Glasser Institute international. The late William Glasser founded Choice Theory and Reality Therapy. This association began when Irish psychologist Brian Lennon sent American psychiatrist a copy of my first book Beyond Prozac: Healing Mental Distress.
Bill Glasser wrote about his reaction to my book in his 2003 book, Warning: Psychiatry may be Hazardous to your Mental Health:
Dedication: “To Brian Lennon, my esteemed colleague from Ireland. Since we met years ago, I have felt that your mind was a mirror of mine. When you sent me Terry Lynch’s book, Beyond Prozac, I was on my way.”
p. xxii: “. . . to save time, read Beyond Prozac, the seminal work on the hazards of biological psychiatry by Terry Lynch, a man you’ve already met in the Foreword to this book.”
p. 23: “Acquaint yourself with a few of the books in the Appendix so you can see for yourself that there is support for what I suggest. As I said in the Preface, if you have time for only one, I strongly recommend Beyond Prozac by Terry Lynch M.D. I just loved that book. If I every get seriously unhappy, I’m going to camp on Terry’s doorstep.”
p. 233: “Beyond Prozac: This is the book that gave me the impetus to write the book. I cannot speak of it too highly. If ever a man puts a human face on mental suffering and offers an optimistic message, Dr. Lynch is that man. I’ve read it twice and would not be surprised if I opened it again. I am so pleased he agreed to write the Foreword that began this book.”
I was honoured to be asked to write the foreword to that book.
“Psychology, Poetry and Music – An Afternoon with Terry Lynch, Iggy McGovern and Friends”.
The Far Side Festival, 3 pm, Saturday 19th September 2015, Sheraton Hotel, Gleeson Street, Athlone, Westmeath.
On the opening day of the Athlone Far Side Festival, Terry Lynch will speak with Dara White (of Renew Ireland) about emotional and mental health and his new book, “Depression Delusion Volume One: The Myth of the Brain Chemical Imbalance”.
Terry’s style is open and engaging. Terry’s talk will be followed by some Spanish guitar music and a poetry reading and discussion with well-known poet Iggy McGovern.
I expect that, like the 2013 Athlone Literary Festival talk/conversation which was also with Dara White, this conversation about mental health will be wide-ranging, spontaneous and informative, with plenty of time for audience participation. I anticipate that, like the 2013 Athlone talk, this one will likely last about an hour or so, with ample time for discussion.
I understand that a fee of 10 Euro applies. As room capacity was exceeded for the 2013 talk in Athlone, booking early might be advisable. Places can be booked by emailing the festival at tfsfest@gmail.com.
See you there!

Terry Lynch’s book Depression Delusion Volume One: The Myth of the Brain Chemical Imbalance launch date – 02nd September 2015.
I am delighted to announce that my third book will be available worldwide from 02nd September 2015. It will be available through bookstores worldwide including internet stores such as Amazon. I hope and believe that this book will contribute to the paradigm change that is urgently required in mental health globally.
This book took over two years to write. I am delighted that the book has been widely welcomed and endorsed by many mental health professionals, mental health activists and users of mental health services.
